This is officially my seventh 7x7, which either makes me experienced… or someone who refuses to learn from past financial decisions (a category I also share with my ex-wife).

The YJ MGC 7x7 Magnetic is honestly in a different league. I’ve always preferred odd-numbered cubes — 3x3, 5x5, 7x7 — mostly because I don’t accidentally destroy the centres and my sanity at the same time. But this one? This one just feels right.

Normally with a 7x7, my forearms feel like I’ve just written a 3-hour exam with a pen that ran out halfway through. The strain is real. But this cube? Surprisingly smooth and light. I can actually finish solves without needing a recovery snack and emotional support. I need Emotional support for other reasons though.

The outer layers are excellent — fast, clean, and predictable and no bind up. The inner slices? Fantastic, which is rare. Usually inner slices on big cubes feel like they’re negotiating a peace treaty before every move.

Corner cutting is ridiculously good for a 7x7. You can actually see the design improvements — the corners and middle layers work together like a team… unlike my previous marriage.

And let’s talk about value:

For the price, this cube delivers more performance than I expected. Honestly, I’ve spent more money on things that caused significantly more frustration (again… not naming names, but she knows who she is).

It’s smooth, stable, and just the right amount of “crunchy” — like biting into a perfect piece of biltong, not like stepping on Lego at 2am.

If you’re looking for a 7x7 that:

- Doesn’t destroy your hands
- Cuts corners like a politician before elections
- And performs way above its price bracket

Then this is it.

I’ve owned more cubes than I’d like to admit, honestly, it’s starting to look like my life decisions... but unlike my ex, this one actually turns smoothly and doesn’t lock up when things get serious.

The MoYu AoSu V7 4x4 is ridiculously good. The outer layers feel just as fast and effortless as the inner slices, which is something I’ve always struggled to find. Usually with 4x4s, the inner layers feel like they need therapy after the divorce, but not this one.

It’s fast, controllable, and has that slightly “crunchy” feel that makes every turn satisfying. Not "sand-in-the-gears" crunchy… more like "perfect braai crust” crunchy 👌

Even though the the colors are slightly different, I immediately noted a reduction in my ave of five, which is impressive, because the only thing I usually beat is my patience when solving parity.

Corner cutting? - Excellent...
Stability? - Rock solid...
Performance under pressure? - Better than me in an argument...

Get the Dual track UV, it's the chef’s kiss, not your ex's...

This cube is smoother than my best apology speech and more reliable than my previous life choices.
